The toxic alcohol incident in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra. So far, 24 people have died after consuming the tainted liquor, while several others are critically ill and undergoing treatment in hospitals. Following this incident, the police have taken sweeping action, suspending two officers from the Uruli Kanchan police station. The officers are alleged to have been in contact with the main accused, Radheshyam Prajapati, who was recently arrested.
The suspended officers have been identified as Ajit Shivaji Kale and Sumit Nandkumar Wagh, both posted at the Uruli Kanchan police station. During the departmental inquiry, it was revealed that both officers had links with Radheshyam Prajapati, the prime accused in the toxic alcohol case. Confirming this, the police immediately suspended the two officers. This move has raised serious questions about the police’s role in the illegal liquor trade and its associated networks.
