A kerosene gas leak from an old and defunct water purification plant in Pune city on Tuesday morning left at least 24 people struggling with breathing difficulties and other health issues. Following the incident, administration and health department teams swung into action immediately, providing medical assistance to those affected.
Local residents and people working in shops around the area reported that a strong odour began emanating from the plant premises around 7:30 am. Soon after, many people started complaining of coughing, headaches, and breathing difficulties. Upon receiving the information, Pune Fire Brigade and municipal corporation teams rushed to the spot. Initial investigations revealed that the leak was coming from one of the old kerosene storage tanks in the defunct plant.
