The district administration in Pune has imposed a 14-day precautionary curfew ahead of Eid-ul-Adha (Bakrid) to maintain public safety and law and order. The curfew will be in effect from 5 June 2024 to 18 June 2024, covering two days before and one day after the main day of Bakrid (16 June). The administration aims to prevent any rumors, crowd management challenges, or potential law-and-order issues during religious gatherings.
During the curfew, Section 144 has been enforced in several parts of the city, prohibiting the assembly of five or more people. Public transport services are also subject to restrictions. Additionally, the use of loudspeakers in the city is completely banned from 9 PM to 6 AM. Special crowd-control directives have been issued for markets, educational institutions, government offices, and public spaces.
