New Delhi, June 11 — A retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer lost his life in a tragic house fire in Delhi on Tuesday evening, while his son sustained injuries in the incident. The fire reportedly started around 7:30 PM in the basement of their residence in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash area, according to officials and eyewitness accounts.
The deceased has been identified as 68-year-old Ravi Shankar Prasad, a 1982-batch IAS officer who had served in key government roles, including as Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperation. His son, 32-year-old Arjun Prasad, was rushed to a nearby hospital with burn injuries and is currently undergoing treatment. Authorities stated that both were present in the basement when the fire erupted, possibly due to a short circuit.
