The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are facing a potential leadership overhaul following one of their worst-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) campaigns in the 2026 season. Global cricket director Tom Moody openly admitted that the franchise underperformed and suggested that serious discussions about the team’s future leadership are underway.
LSG finished near the bottom of the points table with just four wins in 14 matches, a performance that Moody described as falling short of the franchise’s own high standards. Speaking at a post-match press conference following a loss to the Punjab Kings (PBKS), Moody acknowledged that captain Rishabh Pant faced significant challenges in handling the pressure of leadership, which may have impacted both his captaincy and batting performances. “From a captaincy point of view, he’s found it challenging, obviously, and the results reflect that,” Moody said. “You do have to wonder whether that is a pressure that is reflected with his performance with the bat.”
