Employees of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UP Roadways) have alleged that they are being coerced into paying a monthly bribe of ₹3,000. Failure to comply risks suspension and a downgraded Annual Confidential Report (ACR), potentially jeopardising promotions and job security. This revelation comes from a media report, which states that the money is being extorted by Route Managers (RMs) and other senior officials.
According to the report, the issue surfaced in a district of eastern Uttar Pradesh, where an employee claimed to have been asked to pay ₹3,000 every month. The employee stated that if they failed to pay, disciplinary action would be taken against them, and their ACR would be marked poorly, threatening their career growth and job stability.
Instances of such corruption within UP Roadways have been reported multiple times in the past. In previous years, several employees have accused senior officials of pressuring them to pay or accept bribes. However, the corporation has not issued any official statement on the matter thus far.
