The construction of the major bridge connecting Saidapet and Thenampet in Thiruvananthapuram district is expected to be completed by September 2024, according to the government department. Once the bridge is completed, it is anticipated that the travel convenience for the people in these areas will undergo a significant change. Officials have also informed that the construction activities are progressing rapidly.
Upon the completion of the Saidapet-Thenampet bridge, the distance from Saidapet to Thenampet will be substantially reduced. Currently, traveling through this route takes approximately 30 minutes. However, it is estimated that this time will be reduced to around 10 minutes once the bridge is completed. Furthermore, with thousands of vehicles passing through this route daily, it is expected that the traffic congestion will decrease and travel time will be shortened.
KSRTC officials, who are overseeing the project, have assured that the construction activities will be completed on time. The bridge, which is approximately 1.2 kilometers long, will not only connect two major roads but also facilitate easier access to nearby hilly areas. Additionally, once the bridge is completed, it is expected that the traffic on the nearby Chengal bridge will also decrease.
