A female police officer in Maharashtra has levelled a serious allegation of rape against the state’s Director General of Police (DGP). In her complaint, the officer accused her senior of sexually assaulting her. She stated in her complaint that the assault took place last August during a private meeting at the police headquarters. After the incident, she approached several senior officers with her complaint, but no action was taken.
The female officer filed a complaint at a Mumbai police station on Saturday (June 15, 2024). Following this, Mumbai Police registered a case and initiated an investigation. In her complaint, the officer stated that the official who assaulted her was close to the state’s DGP, though the DGP’s name has not been made public.
Mumbai Police have set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) in this case. According to the officer’s complaint, the accused is her senior officer who subjected her to both mental and physical abuse. She mentioned that she had repeatedly raised the issue with colleagues and superiors, but no action was taken.
