The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) has intensified its criticism of the Tamil Nadu government, led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, over alleged failures in maintaining law and order. Addressing the media on June 2, 2026, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami accused the Vijay-led government of neglecting its duties, citing recent incidents of crime and delayed administrative responses as evidence of poor governance.
Palaniswami’s remarks came in the wake of the murder of a youth in Tondiarpet, Chennai, reportedly after the victim challenged the sale of ganja. The AIADMK leader questioned the government’s response, asking, “Is this the answer if someone challenges the sale of ganja? Is this the change?” He further accused the government of attempting to evade responsibility, stating it was a “matter of shame” that authorities were failing to uphold the rule of law.
