Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Delhi-bound charter flight was diverted to Jaipur Airport on Friday after heavy rainfall disrupted operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
The diversion occurred amid severe weather conditions, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting continued rainfall and thunderstorms in the national capital region. According to aviation sources, the decision to reroute the flight was made to ensure the safety of passengers and avoid delays caused by low visibility and waterlogging at the airport.
Siddaramaiah, who was scheduled to attend a political meeting in Delhi, landed safely in Jaipur around 12:30 PM. Officials confirmed that arrangements were made for his onward travel to Delhi via another flight or alternative means. The Chief Minister’s office has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident.
