Veteran playback singer Suman Kalyanpur, whose velvety voice graced generations of Indian music lovers from the 1960s through the 1970s, passed away on Sunday evening at her residence in Lokhandwala, Mumbai. She was 89 years old. Her death was attributed to age-related complications. Close friend and biographer Mangala Khadilkar told PTI that Suman ji passed away peacefully around 8 pm at her home. “For the last few days she was listening to her own songs,” Khadilkar said.
