The Supreme Court on Monday, May 25, 2026, issued notices to the Union government, the National Testing Agency (NTA), and other authorities on multiple petitions concerning the alleged paper leak in the NEET-UG 2026 examination. The top court expressed deep concern over the recurrence of such irregularities despite prior judicial intervention, including the formation of a monitoring committee led by former ISRO scientist K. Radhakrishnan. The apex court directed the NTA to submit an affidavit within three days and has listed the matter for urgent hearing later this week. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has taken over the investigation, has so far arrested 11 individuals in connection with the paper leak. The NEET-UG 2026 exam, originally held on May 3, was cancelled two days later following allegations of a paper leak. A re-examination has been scheduled for June 21.
