Solapur, Maharashtra – The political landscape of Solapur district in Maharashtra has clearly reflected the impact of 'Operation Lotus'. Notably, senior BJP leader and former MLA Ashok Akalujkar suffered a defeat, with his seat being claimed by an alliance of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
Under 'Operation Lotus', the BJP fielded its candidates in various local self-government elections across Solapur district. However, the party did not achieve the expected success in this round of elections. In the Solapur Municipal Corporation elections, prominent BJP face and former MLA Ashok Akalujkar was defeated by independent candidate Vinayak Mane Patil. Additionally, in the Solapur Zilla Parishad elections, the BJP-backed candidate also suffered a defeat, with NCP member Vikas Mane Deshmukh emerging victorious.
