A second-year ophthalmology diploma student, R. Moses Sam Nelson, aged 19, died by suicide in the hostel of a private eye hospital in Tirunelveli on Monday. According to police records, the incident occurred in the students’ hostel located on the outskirts of Palayamkottai. After fellow students noticed something amiss and alerted the hospital authorities, the situation was immediately reported, and police were rushed to the location. The body was subsequently sent to Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The victim’s father, M. Ramesh, submitted a formal petition to District Collector R. Sukumar, expressing his suspicions regarding the circumstances surrounding his son’s death. In the petition, he requested a comprehensive inquiry into what he described as a “suspicious death.” The District Collector’s office acknowledged receipt of the petition and is expected to initiate appropriate action following standard procedures.
