West Bengal’s newly sworn-in Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, addressing a public meeting in Nandigram on Sunday (May 24, 2026), struck a firm tone by promising accountability for past misdeeds while urging BJP workers to uphold the law. Speaking at a time when his party is consolidating power across the state following recent Assembly election results, Adhikari introduced a new slogan, “Sabka Hisab” (holding everyone to account), alongside the Prime Minister’s familiar “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” (together with all, development for all). The phrase was explicitly directed at political opponents, particularly the outgoing Trinamool Congress (TMC) leadership, which had governed West Bengal for 15 years.
