Bengaluru, June 1, 2026: National Award-winning actor Taapsee Pannu has candidly shared her personal battle with body image pressures in the entertainment industry, revealing how an obsessive pursuit of a “flat midriff” led her to push her body beyond safe limits. In an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, she reflected on years of intense workouts, strict dieting, and self-criticism, before ultimately embracing body positivity and rejecting harmful beauty standards.
Speaking openly about her fitness journey, Pannu admitted that she once became fixated on achieving what she believed was the “ideal physique,” driven by a desire to match industry expectations. “I remember I had this obsession because while growing up, I was extremely fit, but I never understood why the lower belly fat always stayed,” she wrote. “I worked out intensely almost to an extent that I overpushed myself.” She explained that excessive exercise not only failed to reduce water retention or fat in the lower abdomen but often worsened it, sending her body into a protective mode by retaining more fluid and fat.
