A shocking incident of a brutal attack on a journalist in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, has sent ripples across the state. The journalist, who worked in Tirupur district, was allegedly attacked with firecrackers near his residence late last night. He sustained injuries and was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The incident has drawn strong condemnation from local representatives and journalists alike. Several journalist associations, including the Tamil Nadu Journalists' Association, have condemned the attack in the strongest terms. In response to the attack, journalists staged protests in Chennai and Coimbatore this morning. In Chennai, reporters gathered near Rajiv Gandhi Salai, close to Ennore Port, raising slogans demanding the safety of their colleagues and immediate action against those responsible. A similar protest was held on Anna Salai in Coimbatore.
