Preparations for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 in Tamil Nadu are in full swing. In this regard, the Election Commission of India has released the state’s final electoral roll. Published on March 20, 2024, the list includes details of voters across the state—such as their names, photo identity card numbers, and polling station information. According to the Election Commission, the final list contains a total of 6.28 crore voters, including approximately 3.15 crore men, 3.12 crore women, and over 6,000 voters from the third gender.
To ensure accurate identification of voters, the final electoral roll has been cross-verified with photo identity cards (EPIC). The Election Commission has stated that this year, around 1.5 lakh new voters have been added to the list, while over 2 lakh voters have been removed due to death or relocation. Additionally, details of more than 5 lakh voters have been corrected. Voters have been given until March 25 to verify their names and file online complaints regarding any discrepancies through the Election Commission’s website.
