Kanpur Central, one of the major railway stations in Uttar Pradesh, is now facing a complete closure day. Railway officials have informed that the station will be completely closed on the 15th of next month as part of the ongoing repair and renovation work by the government. On this day, no trains will enter or depart from ADC. Passengers are advised to reschedule their travel plans for this day. The closure of Kanpur Central station will affect around 50 trains daily, with over 25,000 passengers using the station every day. The station is a major junction on the Howrah-Delhi main line, East Central Railway zone, and South Central Railway zone. During the closure period, passengers can use Kanpur Junction (CPRJ) or Govindpuri (GWP) stations as alternatives, which are around 5 to 8 kilometers away from Kanpur Central. The government has planned to rebuild the station with modern facilities, including Wi-Fi, improved platforms, and better toilet facilities, after the completion of the repair work. The project is expected to be completed at a cost of around ₹500 crore and is expected to start by the middle of next year.
