The General Administration Department issued a notification on Sunday declaring May 28 as a holiday in addition to the already scheduled May 27 holiday for Bakrid.
According to the notification, Thursday, May 28, 2026, will be a holiday for all government offices, including public sector undertakings, educational institutions, including professional colleges, and institutions coming under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881. The decision is aimed at allowing government employees and students to participate in the festivities without any disruptions. This move is likely to benefit a large number of people in the state, particularly Muslims, who observe the festival with great fervor.
