Chennai, May 28, 2026: The Velachery police have arrested two migrant labourers from Bihar for allegedly sexually assaulting a 61-year-old woman with a mental disability in the early hours of Thursday. The suspects, who were working at local eateries in Velachery, reportedly lured the woman from the bus terminus under the pretext of giving her a ride home. They then took her to an isolated spot, where they committed the crime before fleeing, leaving her unconscious.
According to a senior police officer, the elderly victim, a resident of Madipakkam, was waiting at the Velachery bus terminus around 2:30 a.m. on May 28. The two accused men approached her under the guise of offering assistance. Using deception, they convinced her to accompany them, promising to drop her home. Instead, they took her to a secluded area where they sexually assaulted her. After the assault, the suspects abandoned her and left the scene.
