Thiruvananthapuram, May 25, 2026 — On the first anniversary of the MSC Elsa 3 shipping disaster, Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan announced that the state government is taking the environmental fallout from the incident “very seriously” and will review the response of the previous Left Democratic Front (LDF) government. Speaking to reporters after a special Cabinet meeting, Satheesan said the government may amend the admiralty suit filed in court to claim compensation for environmental and economic losses caused by the shipwreck.
