Preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections scheduled for 2027 have already begun. Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party (SP) and the Congress are moving towards finalising their alliance framework. According to sources, both parties have started deliberations on seat-sharing. The SP has assigned former IAS officer Alok Ranjan with this task. Under Alok Ranjan’s leadership, a survey team has been formed with the primary objective of preparing a proposal to allocate 70 to 75 seats to the Congress as part of the alliance.
The survey team’s process is quite detailed. It will begin with a ground-level assessment of potential candidates’ grassroots support. This survey will be conducted in two phases. The first phase will involve a private agency, while the second will rely on feedback from local leaders. SP chief Akhilesh Yadav is personally overseeing the entire process. He has made it clear that no recommendations will influence ticket distribution this time. Only candidates with strong public support, unblemished reputations, and a high chance of winning will be given tickets.
