On the fourth day of *Nautapa*, the weather in Uttar Pradesh took an unexpected turn on Thursday. Since morning, strong winds have been sweeping across several districts, accompanied by overcast skies. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for rain, storms, and hailstorms in a total of 69 districts across the state. Out of these, hail is also expected in 24 districts. According to meteorologists, the spell of storms, strong winds, and heavy rainfall is likely to continue for the next few days, offering relief from the intense heat.
The IMD has warned that wind speeds in some areas could reach up to 100 km/h. This weather shift has been triggered by the interaction of a western disturbance and cyclonic winds developing over southern Bihar and surrounding regions. Atul Kumar Singh, a scientist at the IMD’s Lucknow centre, explained that the combined effect of these two weather systems is rapidly changing conditions across Uttar Pradesh. He added that over the next few days, heavy rain, hail, and strong winds will persist in many parts of the state. This could lead to a drop in temperatures by 6 to 8 degrees Celsius in several areas, providing much-needed relief from the scorching heat.
