The last rites of Twisha Sharma, the woman at the centre of a high-profile murder case in Bhopal, were performed on Monday at the Bhadbhada Ghat with traditional religious rituals. Family members broke down during the ceremony, paying their final respects to Twisha. Her husband has been arrested by the police and is currently under interrogation. Meanwhile, a notice has been issued to her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh. The investigation is being led by Additional Commissioner of Police Anil Mishra.
On Monday morning, Twisha’s family completed the purification and bone-collection process at Bhadbhada Ghat in accordance with religious customs. Relatives and close associates bid a tearful farewell to Twisha. Priests chanted mantras and performed worship as per full ritual procedures. Twisha’s brother, Aashish Sharma, said that their mother had expressed her wish for Twisha’s ashes to be immersed in Rishikesh, as Twisha had a special connection to the town and the Ganga ghats. The family believes that bidding farewell on the banks of the Ganges will bring peace to her soul.
