A major train accident occurred near Varanasi this morning, in which two coaches of the Mysuru Express derailed. Two passengers were killed and several others were injured in the incident. Speaking about the accident, railway officials said that Train No. 12610 (Mysuru Express) was running on its regular route when the mishap occurred near Varanasi station.
According to preliminary reports, two coaches (S-1 and S-2) of the train derailed, severely affecting the front portion of the train. Railway officials stated that immediate relief and rescue operations were launched following the accident. Teams of the fire brigade, local police, and railway personnel worked together to rescue the injured. The victims were admitted to various hospitals in Varanasi, where their condition is being monitored.
A senior railway officer said the cause of the accident is yet to be ascertained, but it is believed to have been caused by a technical glitch or human error in the track. A detailed investigation has been initiated in this regard. Meanwhile, the affected track has been cleared, and efforts are underway to restore normal train services.
