A shocking and tragic incident has come to light from Jagaram Tirath village in Talwandi Sabo, Punjab. Charanpreet Singh (28 years old), a resident of the village, committed suicide after being constantly harassed by his family. Charanpreet had been in a live-in relationship with a woman for the past four years. Just before his death, he sent an emotional video to his brother, in which he held the woman and her family responsible for his death. In the video, Charanpreet revealed that his live-in partner and her family had borrowed Rs 4.5 lakh from him on the pretext of sending the woman's daughter abroad (to Canada for IELTS). Charanpreet, a professional driver, had earned this amount through his hard work. When he started asking for his money back, the woman and her entire family began to mentally harass him. Instead of returning the money, he was being constantly threatened. Unable to bear the harassment, he took the extreme step. Before consuming poison, Charanpreet recorded the entire incident on his mobile phone and sent the video to his brother on WhatsApp, so that he could get justice after his death. Immediately after sending the video, he consumed poison and ended his life. As soon as the family members received the video and learned about the incident, there was chaos at home. The local police immediately swung into action. Talwandi Sabo SHO Amarik Singh confirmed the incident, stating that a case has been registered against four people based on the statement of the deceased's brother and the video received as a suicide note. The police have arrested two of the named accused and are conducting raids to arrest the remaining two. The SHO assured that the absconding accused would be arrested soon. The incident has left the entire area stunned. Despite the police action, the case is raising discussions on serious issues such as live-in relationships, betrayal, and family harassment in society. Experts believe that there is a need to raise awareness among people against emotional and financial exploitation in such cases. The police have appealed to people to immediately inform the authorities about any such incident, so that timely action can be taken.
