New Delhi, June 12: Residents of Delhi experienced a significant drop in temperatures on Wednesday as a western disturbance over Rajasthan and central Pakistan triggered rain and thunderstorms across the region. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued a yellow alert for heatwave conditions in several parts of the country, but the arrival of this weather system has provided much-needed relief.
According to IMD officials, the western disturbance—a common phenomenon during the pre-monsoon season—has led to widespread cloud cover and precipitation in northern India. Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 34°C on Wednesday, a notable decline from the previous days when temperatures had soared above 40°C. Light to moderate rainfall was reported in several areas, including Palam, Safdarjung, and Ayanagar, with some regions experiencing gusty winds as well.
