Bengaluru Police have arrested five individuals, including a woman, in connection with a recent jewellery theft case that has sent shockwaves through the city’s jewellery market. The arrests were made following a coordinated operation by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) detectives, who traced the stolen items to a rented flat in the Rajajinagar area. The accused, whose identities have not been disclosed, are believed to be part of a larger gang involved in multiple thefts targeting jewellery shops across the city.
According to officials, the theft came to light when a prominent jewellery store in Malleswaram reported the loss of gold and diamond ornaments worth over ₹1.5 crore on the night of May 12. Surveillance footage from the shop showed the suspects entering the premises under the guise of customers before overpowering the staff and fleeing with the jewellery. Police sources revealed that the gang used sophisticated tools to break open safes and disable security systems, indicating a high level of planning.
