Bengaluru mein Wednesday ko Ebola scare dekhne ko mila jab Uganda se recently returned ek woman mein body ache jaise mild symptoms dikhe aur use turant hi State-run Epidemic Diseases Hospital (EDH) mein isolate karke evaluation ke liye rakha gaya. Health authorities ne confirm kiya ki woman ka naam public nahi kiya gaya hai, aur wo otherwise stable condition mein hai aur closely monitor ki ja rahi hai. Ek sample collect karke Pune ke National Institute of Virology (NIV) bheja gaya hai, lekin Wednesday evening tak results abhi pending hain.
Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare ne kaha ki India mein ab tak Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) ka koi case confirm nahi hua hai. Wednesday ko official statement jari karke ministry ne emphasize kiya ki India Africa ke kuch hisson mein chal rahe Ebola situation ko closely monitor kar raha hai, jahaan outbreaks reported hain. “Government of India Africa ke hisson mein chal rahe Ebola Virus Disease situation ko closely monitor kar rahi hai, recent outbreaks ko dekh kar,” statement mein kaha gaya. Ministry ne public ko assure kiya ki sab necessary public health protocols WHO guidelines ke mutabik follow kiye ja rahe hain, aur surveillance measures entry points aur public health system mein activate hain.
Health officials ne confirm kiya ki woman Uganda se travel ki thi, jo Africa ka ek country hai jahaan abhi Ebola outbreak chal raha hai. EDH ne kaha, “Individual abhi tak healthy condition mein hai except mild body ache. Sample collect kiya gaya hai aur NIV bheja gaya hai. Test results abhi awaited hain.” Karnataka state government ne central health authorities ke saath milkar isolation protocols activate kiye hain aur heightened surveillance maintain kar rahi hai.
Ebola scare tab aaya jab global concern badh raha hai ek naye aur highly lethal strain ke virus ke baare mein. Current outbreak, Bundibugyo species of Ebola virus ke karan, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) aur Uganda mein is mahine confirm hua hai. Previous strains ke opposite, is naye variant ke liye abhi tak koi approved vaccine ya specific treatment nahi hai. WHO ke Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus ne caution kiya ki epidemic “outpacing” response efforts kar rahi hai, jiske hisab se 220 se zyada suspected deaths report hue hain, jinmein kam se kam 11 confirmed fatalities bhi shamil hain.
Outbreak ke response mein, international research teams vaccine development ko accelerate kar rahe hain. Oxford University ke researchers, Serum Institute of India aur global partners ke saath milkar, Bundibugyo strain target karne wala vaccine candidate develop kar rahe hain. Professor Teresa Lambe, Head of Vaccine Immunology at Oxford Vaccine Group, ne kaha ki animal testing already start ho chuka hai aur team ka aim hai 2-3 mahine ke andar clinical-grade vaccine doses produce karna. Lambe ne Serum Institute of India ko rapid aur large-scale vaccine production ke liye key partner bataya.
Meanwhile, Russia ne claim kiya hai ki usne naye Bundibugyo strain ke liye vaccine develop ki hai, lekin ye independent verification ke bina hai. WHO global efforts ko lead kar raha hai, affected regions mein operations scale up karke spread ko contain karne ke liye. India ne bhi airports par screening badha di hai aur isolation wards set up kiye hain, taaki preparedness measures strong rahein, jabki authorities public ko panic na karne aur sirf official sources se updates follow karne ki appeal kar rahe hain.
Jab duniya Ebola ke resurgence se jhujh rahi hai, public health experts vigilance, early detection aur international cooperation ko crisis ko aur badhne se roke ke liye zaroori bata rahe hain.
