Ajmer, Rajasthan — Four members of a family, including a former village head (sarpanch), were burnt alive inside a vehicle in Shrirampura village, Ajmer district, on Thursday morning, police confirmed. The incident, initially suspected to be accidental, has now raised suspicions of foul play after preliminary investigations revealed injury marks on the bodies and blood stains at the residence of the deceased.
According to Ajmer Superintendent of Police (SP) Harsh Vardhan Agarwala, the deceased were identified as former sarpanch Ram Singh Choudhary, his wife Suryagyan Devi, his mother Poosi Devi, and a relative, Mahima Chaudhary. Three bodies were recovered from a charred vehicle, while the fourth was found in a nearby field, approximately 60 km from Ajmer city. The SP stated that the case has now been treated as a suspected murder after autopsy results revealed injury marks on the victims.
