Traders in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, are struggling ahead of Eid as inflation takes its toll. While the mandi is brimming with large, high-quality goats, there are no buyers in sight. The situation has reached a point where goats priced at ₹50,000 are not selling even for ₹30,000. Animal traders are visibly disheartened by the market’s indifferent response.
In the Saraytarin area near Rama Talkies in the Hayatnagar police station zone of Sambhal district, this year’s mandi features well-bred, high-quality goats. However, their prices have soared beyond the reach of most customers. Traders say demand for goats this year was higher in cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and other states, prompting many to take their stock elsewhere. The goats left behind in Sambhal are now priced between ₹25,000 and ₹50,000.
