In a bid to ensure a peaceful and harmonious Bakrid celebration in Mandya district, the district administration convened a peace meeting in the Deputy Commissioner's office on Monday. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kumar, Superintendent of Police V.J. Shobharani, and leaders of Muslim and Hindu communities from the district. The main objective of the meeting was to appeal to the Hindu and Muslim communities to maintain unity and peace among them ahead of the festival.
Deputy Commissioner Kumar described Bakrid as a festival that symbolises sacrifice and devotion. He emphasized that the festival should be observed with peace and mutual harmony among different groups irrespective of caste and religion. Kumar appealed to the people to collectively ensure that no untoward incidents mar the celebrations. He warned that strict action would be taken against those disturbing peace and spreading false information on social media. Kumar also pointed out that maintenance of peace and law and order during the festivals is everyone's responsibility.
