In a heartwarming tale of compassion and determination, the Mumbai police have successfully reunited a former medical student with his family after months of searching. Abhay, a 20-year-old third-year homeopathy student from Tamsa in Nanded district, had been living on the streets of Mumbai, struggling with a pre-existing mental health condition.
The story began on Thursday when a routine police drive to rehabilitate beggars from the streets took an extraordinary turn. Constable Komalsingh Jadhav spotted Abhay on the pavement in Malad's SV Road, but instead of processing him as just another routine case, the police team chose empathy. They provided him with a warm bath and a hot meal, and once he was comfortable and calm, sub-inspector Manisha Kagalkar began to gently quiz him about his past. As the fog of trauma began to lift, Abhay revealed his name and his background as a medical student.
