Kannur, May 25, 2026: The Kannur Town Police have registered a case of alleged medical negligence against a private hospital in the district after a 40-year-old timber loading worker from Arivalappoyil near Udayagiri was left partially disabled due to severe injuries sustained during treatment. The incident has sparked serious allegations of improper restraint, lack of consent, and inadequate care, prompting the victim’s family to file complaints with the Chief Minister’s office and the Kerala State Human Rights Commission.
Jinesh Jose, the victim, approached the hospital on March 1, 2026, complaining of fever symptoms. According to his family, he was admitted and later shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Hospital authorities allegedly informed a bystander that Mr. Jose became violent and required physical restraint during treatment. They claimed to have obtained written consent from the accompanying person before proceeding with the restraints. However, Mr. Jose’s relatives have strongly disputed these claims, stating that he lost consciousness during the week-long hospitalization and was later transferred to a hospital in Mangaluru in an ICU-equipped ambulance.
