The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has encountered a technical glitch in its online application portal for the re-evaluation process of 12th class answer sheets. The board had announced that the portal would be activated from June 1, but even after noon, the portal is still in maintenance mode. This has increased the anxiety of thousands of students and their parents, who were expecting to apply for re-evaluation on time. Earlier, the process initiated by CBSE for obtaining scanned copies of 12th class answer sheets also faced several technical and logistical issues. The board had started the application portal for scanned copies from May 19, with the deadline set for May 22. However, the portal remained closed for the entire first day. Subsequently, the board extended the deadline to May 23, but the portal was closed again on the second day and the application process could only begin after 2 pm. Many students also faced payment-related issues. During the process of obtaining scanned copies, numerous students reported various complaints, including changes made to the answer sheets, blurry copies, and some copies being missing. Additionally, the portal frequently shut down, causing significant inconvenience to the students. The board extended the application deadline multiple times due to these issues. Later, the Ministry of Education also acknowledged these problems and assured students of assistance. According to the information provided by the board, a total of 4,04,319 students had applied for scanned copies of their answer sheets by May 26. These students had applied for a total of 11,31,961 photocopies of answer sheets. The board made 8,98,214 digital copies available to the students. However, the application portal for the re-evaluation process is still not functioning properly, causing concern among the students. It is worth noting that CBSE has adopted the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, which aims to make the evaluation process more transparent and error-free. However, technical glitches are affecting the smooth operation of this system. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had announced that the re-evaluation process would begin on June 29. However, the board later decided to start the application process from June 1 to ensure greater transparency. But due to technical glitches, the process is being delayed, which may impact the future of the students. The CBSE's inadequate arrangements have not only caused problems for the students but also for their parents. While the board claims to be making improvements, repeated technical glitches are occurring, raising questions about whether CBSE has actually been able to improve its systems.
