The Indian government has urged the state of West Bengal to accelerate the implementation of several key health schemes, including the Ayushman Bharat PM-JAY, HPV vaccination, and TB elimination programmes. This directive was issued during a virtual review meeting chaired by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, where he stressed the importance of preventive healthcare and early intervention in reducing the disease burden. The meeting was attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, and the Centre released ₹527.58 crore as the first tranche from the state's ₹3,505.59 crore National Health Mission allocation for 2026-27.
