Delhi: Accused Arrested for Firing to Extort Rs 5 Crore Ransom, 27 Lakh Worth of Banned E-Cigarettes Also Seized

New Delhi, April 15, 2024 – The Delhi Police have arrested an accused in a major extortion case in the Rohini area. According to the police, the accused is charged with firing to extort a ransom of Rs 5 crore. In this case, the police have also seized a large quantity of banned e-cigarettes worth approximately Rs 27 lakh. The police stated that the accused was arrested by a special team of the Delhi Police. The arrested accused, identified as Rahul Sharma (32 years old), is a resident of the Rohini area. According to the police, the accused had been involved in illegal activities for a long time and was named in various crimes. He also used weapons to forcibly extort money from victims. The police said that the accused had fired to extort a ransom of Rs 5 crore, after which the victim had filed a complaint with the police. The police took immediate action and arrested the accused. Additionally, the police have also seized banned e-cigarettes worth Rs 27 lakh from the accused. According to the police, the Delhi government has imposed a ban on e-cigarettes, and their sale and use are illegal. The police stated that a case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including extortion, attempted murder, and the use of illegal weapons. The police are now conducting further investigations and suspect that the accused may be involved in other crimes as well.
