Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh – A severe traffic jam was witnessed on DME Road on Monday morning due to the ongoing metro construction work. Local residents and commuters appeared frustrated as they were stuck in traffic for an extended period. According to officials, the construction work has resulted in only a single lane being open on the road, leading to a significant increase in traffic congestion. The DME Road, which is a major route in Ghaziabad, experienced traffic jams starting from around 8 am on Monday. Several vehicle drivers reported that it took them three times the usual time to reach their destinations. A local businessman stated, "I leave for office every morning at 8 am, but today it took me two and a half hours to reach." The Ghaziabad District Magistrate (DM) explained that certain restrictions have been imposed on the road due to the metro construction work. He assured that alternative routes would be arranged soon to provide relief to commuters. He said, "We are trying to normalize the traffic as soon as possible." The local administration has appealed to the public to be patient. Police officials stated that they are deploying additional forces to ensure the smooth flow of traffic. They added that the construction work would be carried out at night to minimize disruptions to traffic during the day.
