The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heatwave warning for 16 districts in Telangana, effective from Tuesday, May 26, 2026. According to the latest bulletin released by the IMD, heatwave conditions are expected to prevail in isolated pockets across Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, and Jangaon districts. The warning comes as temperatures are expected to rise significantly, posing risks to public health and daily activities.
In addition to the heatwave alert, the IMD has forecasted warm night conditions in isolated pockets of several other districts. These include Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, and Medchal Malkajgiri. Warm nights can exacerbate heat stress, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and children, as the body has little respite from high temperatures.
