Heavy police deployment was witnessed in Delhi’s Chhatarpur area on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, following protests by the family and residents of a 17-year-old boy who succumbed to a gunshot wound. The victim’s family, along with local residents, staged a sit-in at CDR Chowk, alleging inadequate police action against the culprits. Roads leading to the locality were barricaded, and additional personnel were deployed to maintain order as tensions escalated ahead of the teenager’s last rites.
Heated arguments erupted between some family members and police officers, while a large crowd gathered, demanding swift justice. Amid mounting public anger, a senior police officer revealed that efforts were underway to try the main accused—a 16-year-old juvenile—as an adult. “There is a legal provision under which, in cases involving heinous crimes, a juvenile can be tried as an adult. We are making every effort that the main accused be tried as an adult in this case,” the officer stated. The protest disrupted traffic flow in and around the area, with heavy congestion reported on SSN Marg and Chhattarpur Mandir Marg. Commuters were advised to avoid these routes, especially during peak hours, and use alternate paths via Maidan Garhi, Rajpur Khurd, Chandan Hola, Dera, Shani Dham, and Bhati Mines.
