Hyderabad, May 25: The Hyderabad Police have interrogated approximately 10 individuals as part of their ongoing investigation into the murder of advocate Khaja Moizuddin, who died on May 23 after being allegedly struck by an SUV near Masab Tank. An officer involved in the probe, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated that several people are being questioned, and eight to ten individuals have already been interrogated. However, the police have refrained from disclosing further details, including whether the SUV used in the attack has been seized or the custody status of the accused named by the victim’s family.
The advocate, who sustained severe injuries during the incident on May 23, succumbed to his wounds while undergoing treatment. Meanwhile, the victim’s son, Farhan, met with senior police officials on May 25 and later addressed the media outside Abids Police Station. Expressing confidence in the police and judiciary, Farhan emphasized the need for a time-bound investigation. “I have complete faith and confidence in the police and I believe they will do a proper investigation. But there has to be a time limit for all investigations,” he said.
Farhan alleged that the accused, Mujahid Alam Khan, would be taken into judicial custody and that the police had assured him of security for his family due to alleged threats. He claimed that his father’s murder was linked to long-standing legal battles over Waqf properties. According to Farhan, Khaja Moizuddin had been involved in legal disputes to protect Waqf properties for years. He cited an earlier case involving an alleged assault in Malakpet, where Mujahid Alam Khan was allegedly involved, as a possible motive for the murder.
The victim’s son further alleged that the accused were receiving preferential treatment inside the police station. He claimed that the accused were seated in air-conditioned rooms and allowed access to their mobile phones while in custody. “They are murder accused and are being given very soft treatment by the police. I do not understand what is happening,” he stated. Farhan also alleged that the accused were attempting to portray the case as a political conspiracy, though he expressed confusion over this angle. “I completely fail to understand from which angle it is a political conspiracy,” he said.
Additionally, Farhan alleged that the accused had initially fled towards the Karnataka border before being brought back by the police. However, he claimed they were only taken into custody and not formally arrested. The police have not yet responded to the family’s allegations regarding the treatment of the accused, the alleged political angle, or the status of the vehicle involved in the case.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities yet to disclose critical aspects such as the seizure of the SUV and the formal arrest status of the accused. The case has drawn attention due to the victim’s involvement in Waqf property disputes and the family’s serious allegations against the police handling of the investigation.
