The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and hail in various parts of the country this week. According to the department, there is a possibility of scattered to heavy rainfall in Northeast India and the Southern Peninsula, while northwest, central, and eastern India may experience rain and hail with strong winds. The IMD has appealed to people to be cautious as multiple weather systems are active across the country. According to the IMD, a western disturbance is active over northwest Uttar Pradesh and its surrounding areas at an altitude of 3.1 to 7.6 kilometers. Due to its impact, there is a possibility of strong winds, thunder, and rain in the Himalayan states as well as Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan. The weather is also active in East India, where there is a possibility of strong winds and rain due to a cyclonic circulation over the South Gangetic Basin, West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Odisha. In some areas, wind speeds can reach up to 40 to 70 kilometers per hour, while in some places, it can even reach up to 90 kilometers per hour. A cyclonic circulation is also active over Northeast India and southern Assam. As a result, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. Meanwhile, due to the cyclonic circulation over southeast Madhya Pradesh, there is also a possibility of strong winds and rain in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha. The IMD stated that the weather pattern is changing across the country, resulting in activities like strong winds, rain, thunder, and hail. The meteorological department also stated that conditions are favorable for the progress of the monsoon. It is estimated that the monsoon may reach Kerala in the next one to two days. Along with this, a new western disturbance will affect northwest India from June 3. This will lead to a possibility of strong winds, rain, and hail again in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, and western Uttar Pradesh between June 3 and 5. The IMD has appealed to people to be cautious and take safety measures due to the change in weather conditions. People have been advised not to stay outdoors during rain and storms, to stay away from electric wires, and to stay safe at home. Additionally, farmers have been advised to take necessary steps to protect their crops.
