Indian mangoes—fondly called the ‘King of Fruits’—are creating waves across the globe. Their sweetness has won over international markets, making India a perennial leader in mango exports. Recently, however, Japan’s Plant Quarantine authorities temporarily halted exports of certain premium Indian mango varieties, citing technical deficiencies in the fumigation process. But as one door closes, another opens. Enter Singapore, where Indian mangoes are now flying off supermarket shelves, with shoppers snapping them up as soon as stock arrives.
The High Commission of India in Singapore took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to highlight this trend. According to the High Commission, the demand for Indian mangoes in Singapore is so high that shelves are emptied within minutes of new stock being placed. In a post on X, the High Commission wrote, “Guys, #indianmango fever has landed in Singapore. Mangoes from all states of India are flying off the shelves. Thanks to @protosphinx for sharing the story with us. HC Wong #mango #mangoexport @AgriGoI #fruit.” The post underscored the strong demand for mangoes from all Indian states in Singapore.
