Kanpur: Young woman dies by suicide three months into marriage; police initiate probe

A tragic incident in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, has raised concerns after a 25-year-old woman died by suicide just three months after her wedding. Local police are investigating the case and examining the possibility of legal action against the woman’s family and her husband. According to the details of the case, the woman had returned to her parental home three months after her marriage. On October 15, around 2 PM, she was found hanging in her room, local residents reported. Neighbors and family members, alerted by the noise, broke the door and found her dead. Accusations have surfaced against the woman’s husband and father-in-law, both of whom have been summoned by the police. The deceased woman’s family alleges that she faced increased mental stress and harassment from the family after marriage. The woman’s name has been reported as Sakshi (name changed), while her husband’s name is Ravi (name changed), according to local sources. Police have registered the case under Section 174 and are conducting further investigations.
