The Secretary of the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Dr. Balachandran, inspected the renovation plan of the Moynul Hak Stadium in Mysuru on Tuesday. In this regard, it has been decided to shift the Sports Authority of India (SAI) center and the police station located in the stadium to acquire the necessary space to modernize the stadium's facilities. The renovation plan aims to elevate the stadium to international standards, which requires additional space. The SAI center and police station are currently located in the surrounding area of the stadium, hindering its expansion. In this context, the sports department has decided to shift these centers to another location. The Moynul Hak Stadium, although old, is a prominent venue for state and national-level sports events. The government has allocated around ₹50 crore for the stadium's renovation, with the intention of starting the project soon. The plan includes developing a strong infrastructure, a better playing field, spectator facilities, and training centers. The Secretary of the Sports Department, Dr. Balachandran, has obtained comprehensive information about the project and suggested that officials identify alternative locations for the shift. The process of finding alternative locations for the SAI center and police station is expected to begin soon. The stadium's renovation plan has received a positive response from local sports enthusiasts and event organizers, and it is expected to give a new impetus to the state's sports sector.
