Leh (Ladakh), June 2, 2026: In a significant stride toward rural empowerment and economic self-reliance, Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Vinai Kumar Saxena, on Tuesday dedicated 15 newly established Common Facility Centres (CFCs) across the Union Territory. The initiative is aimed at strengthening micro-enterprises, creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for women and youth, and curbing migration from remote villages by fostering economic activity within communities.
Speaking on the occasion, Saxena described the launch as a “significant step towards building self-reliant villages and empowering rural communities.” He highlighted the role of these centres as shared workspaces equipped with modern facilities, designed to support weavers, spinners, tailors, artisans, and women self-help groups (SHGs) in producing high-quality products. “Inaugurated and dedicated to the people, 15 Common Facility Centres across Ladakh, marking a significant step towards building self-reliant villages and empowering rural communities,” the L-G posted on X.
