India’s consumption of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) saw a sharp decline of 19.2% in May 2026 compared to the same period last year, according to provisional data released by the Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC). The country consumed approximately 2.12 million metric tonnes (MMT) of LPG this May, down from 2.62 MMT in May 2025. This significant drop follows a series of supply disruptions and adjustments in government policies affecting LPG distribution and usage.
