An aircraft had to make an emergency landing at the Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, this afternoon due to a fuel shortage. The incident occurred while the flight was transporting passengers from Delhi to Lucknow, airport sources said.
The flight control centre at Ayodhya airport confirmed to the pilot that the fuel level was dropping and instructed the aircraft to land immediately at Lucknow airport. The pilot complied with the instruction and landed safely. No injuries or damage were reported, airport officials said.
The aircraft was operated by Air India Express and is understood to be a B737-800 model. It had around 150 passengers and six crew members on board. The flight had departed from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Airport authorities are investigating the incident.
Sources said the drop in fuel levels could be due to a technical fault or human error. An investigation is also underway to check whether the aircraft’s fuel gauges were functioning properly.
