A devastating road accident occurred in Thane city, Maharashtra, on Tuesday night, resulting in the deaths of 11 people and leaving two others critically injured. The cause of the accident is said to be a direct collision between a cement mixer truck and a stationary van on the bridge. The cement mixer truck, which was traveling at a high speed, crashed into the van and continued on its way. The rescue operation was immediately launched at the accident site, with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local police involved. So far, 11 bodies have been recovered, while the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
According to the Thane police, the accident occurred around 7:30 pm when a cement mixer truck (MH14 T 4567) was traveling at a high speed on the bridge. At the same time, a private van (MH04 C 1234) was parked on the bridge, and the cement mixer truck collided directly with the van's front end. The impact was so severe that the van was completely destroyed, and the people inside suffered severe injuries. The driver of the cement mixer truck was immediately arrested and charged with reckless driving.
